Today we speak with Lulu Richards, a London hairdresser specialized in hair cutting and who’s in love with the Mullet. She explains us the keys to make it shine!

Este año, el corte Mullet se ha consolidado, sin duda, como una de las tendencias más solicitadas en los salones, ¿crees que ha llegado para quedarse?

Absolutamente, el Mullet ha venido para quedarse, pero para mí y para mi clientela ha existido durante años. Es gracias a personas como Miley, Maisy Williams y Rihanna que se ha vuelto más «mainstream».

This year, the Mullet haircut has undoubtedly established itself as one of the most requested trends in salons, do you think it has come to stay?

Absolutely, the Mullet has come to stay, but for me and my clientele it has been around for years. It’s because of people like Miley, Maisy Williams and Rihanna that it has become more ‘mainstream’.

PERFECTO PARA TODO TIPO DE CABELLO – PERFECT FOR ALL TYPES OF HAIR

¿Para qué tipo de rostro recomiendas este tipo de corte de pelo?

Cualquier rostro le vendría bien a un Mullet. Creo que la peluquería no se trata de «qué estilo se adapta a tu rostro», se trata de lo que el cliente quiere expresar y su estilo.

For what type of face do you recommend this type of haircut?

Any face would suit a Mullet. I think hairdressing is more about ‘what style would suit your face’, it’s about what the client wants to express and their style.

¿Desaconsejas este corte para algún tipo de cabello o textura? ¿Cuáles prefieres?

No desaconsejaría al cliente que no se lo hiciera; si tiene una textura de cabello particularmente complicada, le preguntaría al cliente si está dispuesto a realizar un trabajo de peinado para que se vea como lo desea. Si dice que no, entonces podemos pensar una alternativa para que les resulte manejable en el día a día.

Do you advise against this cut for any type of hair or texture? Which ones do you preffer?

I wouldn’t advise the client against it, however, if they have a particularly tricky hair texture, I would ask the client are they willing to put in some styling work to make it look how they wish. If they say no, then we come up with an alternative that’s going to be manageable for them day to day.

CÓMODO PARA EL DÍA A DÍA – EASY TO STYLE

¿Cómo aconsejas a tus clientes que lo peinen?

Corto el cabello de mis clientes para lo que su cabello naturalmente quiere hacer. Siempre digo que «el corte Mullet es un estilo, por lo tanto, no se requiere un peinado / peinado mínimo», pero si quieren peinarlo, siempre recomiendo un poco de spray de sal marina y spray de textura, y a divertirse con la forma que coge.

How do you advise your clients to style it?

I cut all my clients hair for what their hair naturally wants to do. I always say ‘the Mullet cut is a style, therefore no/minimal styling is required’ but if they do wanna do some styling I always recommend some sea salt spray and texture spray, and have fun with the shape of it.

¿Con qué frecuencia se necesita retocar este tipo de corte?

Tengo algunos clientes que vienen cada 3 semanas y algunos que vienen cada tres o cuatro meses. Realmente depende del individuo y el estilo de Mullet que tengan.

How often does this haircut need a refresh?

I have some clients that come to me every 3 weeks and some that come every 3-4 months. It really depends on the individual and the style of Mullet they have.

EXISTE UN MULLET PERFECTO PARA TI – THERE’S A MULLET PERFECT FOR YOU

Tu feed de Instagram está lleno de muchas versiones del Mullet: en pelo liso, ondulado, con diferentes flequillos y con afeitados radicales, ¿cuál es tu favorita?

Hmmmm, eso es realmente difícil porque los amo todos. Mi favorito, diría, es el estilo pixie muy corto en una longitud muy larga en la parte posterior. Me encanta esto, ya que técnicamente es muy difícil hacer que el corte se vea cohesivo y se mezcle. Y un flequillo desfilado, son tan sexys.

Your Instagram feed is full of many versions of the mullet: in straight hair, wavy, with different fringes and with radical shaves, which one is your favorite?

Hmmmm that’s a really hard one as I love them all. My favourite I would say is very short pixie style into a very long length at the back. I love this as it’s technically very challenging to make the cut look cohesive and to blend together. And a pointed fringe, they’re just so sexy.

Tell us your color proposals for those who dare to make a Mullet.

I don’t do colour but I would say that I love random pieces of colour. A streak In the fringe or pieces behind the ears maybe.
